Time Keeps Going and Going

Time. When I say the word time, what comes to your mind? Is it a clock? Maybe it is keeping time for your time clock at work. Maybe it is a specific spot in the day that you have to get up, go to work, or hit the gym. But the concept of time is a pretty deep conversation. Why do I say that? Well…
If you think about it time was there the day you were born. If you don’t believe me, look at your birth certificate, and it will show you the exact date and time that you came into this world. So it is always present. Time was there before you were born. There were people and things and the world before you. So time is also in the past. And one second from now, from now, from now; there is still time. So there is time in the future as well. So time is ever going as long as we have ever known, there has been time. And really as far as we can ever imagine, there will be time. It is that big.
But time is also VERY small. Like the moment right now that I am writing this post, is a very small portion of time in general. It is only a little bit of my day, a little bit of the hour I am in, and I will only spend a few minutes even on it. And then when you think of the amount of time I am spending writing this post in comparison to the year, it’s even smaller. Or how about we compare it to my lifetime? Even smaller. Or how about we compare it to as long as the world has been in existence? It is WAY smaller then. So time is also pretty small.
Time is very valuable. It is literally the one thing other than life, that we cannot get back. Once it has passed, it has passed. Currently, when this post was written, we have not figured out how to travel in time. So the concept is true that time is very finite, and is a resource that one day will end for us. The moments and things that happen during this time, you can never do it again. You can now replay it with modern technology, and some even edit it to make it “perfect”, but you cannot EVER do it again. You can’t buy more of it, technically. You can’t trade for more of it. And again, once you use it, it is gone. So time is very valuable.
So if time is all of these things, then why do we waste most of it? Why do we often do the things that we don’t want to do in exchange for the things that we want to do? Maybe it is because we have obligations and there are things we have to do. Even if we don’t want to do them. Maybe it is because we care for the ones around us, and we are giving up our time for them. Maybe it is because we thought we wanted to do said thing, but then realized it is not exactly what we wanted to do. Whatever it is, I am going to propose a thought…
What if we stopped wasting our time, and actually lived? What if we used our time to enhance the moment? Or to stay present and with those that we are around? What if we chose to travel or stay or do nothing? What if we chose to spend our time doing the things that our heart desires? How would we live? What would we do differently? Would it really be worth it? Or would we be more miserable?
I started thinking about time this evening. I have this new idea for an app. I am on the verge of starting to create it, but tonight instead of starting it, I cleaned the house. I watched social media on my phone. I did a little Christmas shopping. But why? Why did I not start the app? Why did I procrastinate or choose to not do the thing that I REALLY wanted to do? I am not sure. Maybe I am scared because I am moving into the unknown? Maybe I am just OCD and feel like my house “needs” to be super clean before I go to bed? Maybe I really needed to veg on social media instead of using more brain power? Maybe I was just too tired? Either way, I didn’t do what I wanted to do.
So here is my proposal to myself and to you. If you really want to live a life on adventure. If you really want to keep transforming the world around you and enhance your own life here on earth, then go for it. Do that thing that you have been wanting to do. Put down that phone and start it. Create it. Teach it. Read it. Just go for it. So today is the start of a new day. Today, this evening, I am going to start moving towards the things I want to do, and move away from the things that just steal my time. Because Time is valuable, and we only get so much of it.
So when you get done reading this, I challenge you write down that thing that you have been “putting off”. And go do it. You will thank me later. This is how you are going to move into a life of adventure. One that is full of joy. So as you go do your thing, remember to Adventure as often as you can, and Always Love along the way.
